Lionel Lindsey was born in South Yarra in 1910, and studied National Gallery of Victoria Art School. He was press artist with the Melbourne Age in the 1930's and 1940's and designed costumes and scenes for the Tivoli Theatre. He exhibited at the Royal Academy. He died in London in 1963.
