Born in Ballarat in 1936 John Davis studied at Melbourne Teachers College and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. A teacher and sculptor he exhibited widely throiughout Australia and is represented in several state and provincial collections.
The total number of works by John Davis offered for sale by auction since 1996 is 18, of which 17 (94%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $3,172 for Lake Mournpoul III sold by Mossgreen Auctions in May 2014. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2019. Works by John Davis are held by the Museum Of New Zealand, Art Gallery of NSW and a further eight major public national galleries (see list below).
