About Max Mannix
Born in Victoria in 1939, Max Mannix is a basically self-taught painter, printmaker and illustrator, working with oil, acrylic, pen and ink in depicting scenes of rural Australia. He first exhibited in 1979 and since then has exhibited widely in the eastern states. He is represented in several provincial collections.
Max Mannix is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1982 of 880, of which 750 (85%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $22,091 for Thundering Hooves and a Cloud of Dust sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in November 2013. This year 12 works have been offered for sale.
