Born in Brisbane in 1956 Noel McKenna studied architecture at Queensland University and art at the Brisbane College of the Arts and the Alexander Mackie College, in Sydney in 1981. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the eastern states of Australia and Auckland, New York and Dublin since 2005. Noel McKenna has won a number of prizes including the 2015 Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize, the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, in 2011 and the Wynne Watercolour Prize, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney in 2005, 2002, 2001, 1999 and 1997. He was a finalist in the Dobell Drawing Prize, National Art School, Sydney in 2019.
