Born in Melbourne in 1953, Charles Green studied extensively in Melbourne, and on travels to Europe, America, Africa and Asia. A painter, writer and critic, he has exhibited since 1973 in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Green has taught in Victorian tertiary institutions since 1981.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $6,793 for A Georgian Interior and a Man Taking Snuff sold by Watson's Auctioneers in March 2005.
