Born in Sydney in 1944, Richard Dunn studied architecture in Sydney, and later, art in Sydney and London. A painter, art teacher and administrator, he was also a contributing editor to 'Rolling Stone' and 'Friends' magazines in London. Much of his work has been related to New York School painting. He has held solo exhibitions since 1972 in Australia and Europe. Dunn was appointed professor, School of Art, University of Sydney in 1990. He passed away in Melbourne on 3 April 2024. His work is represented in several state galleries and in major collections in London and New York
